Howdy IRSB friends! We have very exciting news: our latest CD "The Smithfield Sessions" is coming out November 5th! We are so excited to share these songs with you for you to enjoy. 

This album is very special for a few reasons. First, we recorded the majority of the tracks at Historic Smithfield Plantation in Blacksburg, VA. The Drawing Room of this old house was the perfect setting – both acoustically and aesthetically. April Martin Danner, the museum director, was so welcoming and we spent a bright February day playing and recording music… and feeling like we were "part" of the plantation's history.

Second, we are having an OFFICIAL CD release party at Smithfield Plantation on November 5th to celebrate our second album! This event is open to the public and we really want you to be there! There will be refreshments, CDs to purchase, and (of course) live music. Let's hope that some of this beautiful weather we're experiencing in SWVA continues a few more weeks. If you can't make it, we'll have our album available to purchase via other ways (at our live shows and digitally online).

The bi-annual barn dance took place last weekend (October 7) and it was a full-house! These dances are so fun because 5 minutes before the event, there are only a few people that are milling around ready to get dancing…then by 8pm on the dot, the place is packed! We had 7 squares going at one and there were folks standing around – must have been at least 75 people there! Before the show, Ginger was interviewed by Liz Kirchner from the News Messenger and she wrote a really great article on the Blacksburg Square Dance. Check it out by clicking here.

Looking forward to playing again in the near future. If you haven't yet been to a square dance at the Riner Barn – you need to. Phil Louer is an energetic and FUN caller and the folks range in age from about 7 to 70!
